Depression is the most common type of psychological disorder. Depression not only affects the person mentally and emotionally but also destroys total well being of that person. Depression is not only feeling low or down. Feeling low or down is a part of our life but when these thoughts of feeling down and worthlessness takes control of our life and don’t go away it is termed as depression. This feeling of emptiness makes life unbearable. Sadness is the natural response to the ups and downs of the life. Many times people use the word “depression” to describe that but depression is not merely sadness because these ups and downs. Depression is a very big thing which shatters many lives. Whatever the symptoms of depression to be but if the feeling of guilt, sadness or worthlessness has taken over the control of your life and if these symptoms are interfering with your daily activities than you need to get a medical help.
1) Inheritance – Scientists have found out that depression can caused by genetic factors. If both of your parents or any close relative of yours is suffering from depression, there are chances you might be the next victim. In twins also if the one is suffering from depression, chances are high for the second person to get the disorder.
2) Biological Disorder – The other cause can be because of the chemical imbalance in the brain of the person. This imbalance can cause elevations in the amount of hormone produce and shows the symptoms of depression. Depression is caused by the reuptake of the neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemicals made by the brain nerve cells to communicate with each other.
3) Emotional causes – This is the most important cause of depression in people. Many times in our life we experience stressful conditions which change our physical as well as mental conditions. People keeps on thinking about a particular issue which increases the burden on the brain and it results in the increase in the stress hormone. Emotional issues include health issues, family problems, relationship problems, financial crisis, abuse or death of loved one. This increases the burden on the mind and it shows up abnormal symptoms like excessive anxiety, headache and sleeplessness. This abnormality of mind also affects our body specially heart and liver.
